LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Following a successful and fruitful regular season, NM State is back in action as it prepares to partake in the CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Hosted at UTEP's Kidd Field in El Paso, this marks the first time the Aggies will compete at an outdoor championship as a member of Conference USA. Last season, Rice took home the women's title, while Charlotte earned their fifth straight men's championship.
Starting Line
- The Aggies are set to compete in their first Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at UTEP's Kidd Field from Friday, May 10 through Sunday, May 12.
- Each of the nine Conference USA member institutions are slated to make an appearance – FIU, Jax State, Liberty, LA Tech, MTSU, Sam Houston, UTEP, WKU and NM State.
- The Aggies are slated to compete in 17 events on the weekend.
- This is the first and only weekend of the season where the Aggies will participate in a three-day meet.
- NM State looks for its second consecutive outdoor track & field championship after securing the 2023 WAC championship in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Aggies Across the Nation
The Aggies currently have multiple athletes eligible for the NCAA West Preliminaries, held May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Ark. The top-48 student-athletes will be eligible to compete, with the top 16 moving onto the NCAA Championships, held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

- Kicking off the track portion of competition in the late afternoon, Aliyah Logan recorded the top finish among the Crimson & White, crossing the line with a time of 13.24 seconds to take third overall.
- Makiya Moore claimed the top spot for the Aggies in the hammer throw, finishing in ninth place with a new personal best of 54.87 meters (180-0"). Alongside Moore, Iysis-Tellez Briggs (47.62m [156-2"]) and Kamryn Cadle (46.27m [151-9"]) posted personal bests in the afternoon.
- Taking part in the shot put, Los Alamos native Rebecca Green recorded her fifth top-five finish this season, finishing in third place with a mark of 16.20m (53-1.75").
One Year Ago… | 2023 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships | 5.11-13.23
- After a tumultuous, weather-laden weekend that included torrential downpours and lightning delays, NM State was crowned the 2023 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Champions, their first since the 2020 season.
- Jhana Downie led the way for NM State, winning both the 200m and 400m titles, sweeping the events at both the Indoor and Outdoor 2023 WAC Track & Field Championships en route to earning Outstanding Track Perfromer.
- In the deepest field of the afternoon, NM State had four student-athletes representing them in the 5000m. Maggie Gibbs recorded a sixth-place finish after posting a time of 16:46.82, while Emily Stutesman posted a final time of 16:51.37 to take eighth.
- Earning the top spot and middle lane with her time of 58.81 in Thursday's prelims, Terice Steen finished the race in second, recording a time of 58.36 – a personal best and the top time in NM State history.
