Aggies End Day Two in Houston with 365 Points

NM State holds firm in eighth place with one day left in 2025 Phill Hansel Invitational.

HOUSTON – On Thursday, NM State Swimming & Diving continued its stay at the Phill Hansel Invitational, partaking in the event for the second straight day. Houston is hosting the three-day, 11-team meet from the CRWC Natatorium. The Cougars lead the way with 936 points through 48 hours of action. Meanwhile, the Aggies sit in eighth place with 365 points after the opening round of finals.
 
The day began with a ninth-place finish in the 200 medley relay for Kira Brownell, Kodi Wiman, Emily Dobbins and Dijana Mazumdar (1:41.61). Willow Messner followed up in the 100 fly C Final with a time of 56.01 to grab points for the Crimson & White. 
 
Katie Rink then touched the wall in 1:49.67 during the 200 free, earning 15 points with a fourth-place finish in the B Final. Mazumdar shortly took the crown in the C Final with a mark of 1:49.84, coming in slightly ahead of a points-grabbing Natalia Florian (1:51.86).
 
Wiman later teamed up with Foteini Charitou to finish 1-3 in the 100 breast B Final and secure 32 points, clocking 1:02.53 and 1:02.62, respectively. In the C Final of the 100 back, three Aggies finished in the top five, headlined by Emily Dobbins (55.54).
 
Mazumdar and Florian led off the 800 relay alongside Dreamer Kowatch and Katie Rink, combining for a 7:24.04 mark that earned a fifth-place finish and 50 team points.
 
Lastly, the divers completed the 3m competition on Thursday, with Addison Pastiak (237.90) and Peytton Moore (234.60) both earning points in the C Final. Mira Tinani was the standout, though, solidifying a spot in the A Final and finishing eighth overall with a 264.40 score.

The Phill Hansel Invitational rolls on through tomorrow, Nov. 21. Friday's finals will include the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay and platform dive. Links to watch can be found at nmstatesports.com.
