LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Following a strong week at Riverbend Country Club, the Aggies'
Angela Garvin has been named the Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning.
Garvin, a native of Feeding Hills, Mass., put forth one of the best performances of her collegiate career to land a finish inside the top 10 among a field of 79 individuals at the Riverbend Intercollegiate. In the opening round on Monday, Garvin shot a 68 (-4) which marked her lowest round of the season and her first round in the 60s since last season. She then posted a 76 (+4) and a 72 (+2) in the final two rounds, respectively, to finish with a 54-hole score of 218 (+2).
This also represented the second-best finish of her collegiate career – only behind a third-place finish at the Golf Iconic Classic in October 2023. Additionally, this is the second time that Garvin has been named CUSA Women's Golfer of the Week after her showing at the Golf Iconic Classic also netted her the weekly award.
The graduate student's top 10 finish helped the Aggies to their best team finish of the season as they finished behind only Houston and Abilene Christian. This marked the team's best placement since finishing second at the CUSA Championships last season.
Garvin and the Aggies will return to action on Monday, March 17, when they travel to Dade City, Fla., for the Spring Break Shootout hosted by fellow CUSA member Western Kentucky University.
