FRESNO, Calif. – Despite winning the reining and the equitation over fences competitions by scores of 3-2, the NM State equestrian team dropped a 12-8 decision to Fresno State on Friday afternoon.

Haley Newkirk each captured a point for the Aggies (2-4) in reining with scores of 70.5, 70.0 and 67.5, respectively, as the visiting team grabbed a win over Fresno State (3-3) in the event. In equitation over fences,
Remington Willkie scored a 79.0,
Chelsea Brady scored a 74.0 and
Karianna Knezevich scored a 76.0 as the team snatched the victory in that event as well.
Hallie Padilla and
Katlynn Crine both scored a 72.5 to earn points as the squad fell in the horsemanship competition. The team also lost the equitation on the flat event.
NM State will compete again tomorrow as they face Texas A&M.
