LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team bounced back Saturday evening in Las Vegas with a 4-3 victory over Weber State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.
The Aggie duo of
Vanessa Valdez and
Rebecca Keijzerwaard clinched the doubles point for NM State in doubles action when they battled back to beat WSU's Sara Parker and Morgan Dickason 7-6. The Wildcats tied things up earlier in doubles play when Tereza Pilzova and Caitlin Herb downed the Aggie's No. 1 pair of Rimpledeep and
Gabrielle Joyce 6-4.
The Aggie No. 3 doubles tandem of
Fanni Novak and
Eli Arnaudova was the first to finish when they ousted Weber State's Devi Hasan and Emily Tanner 6-3.
Kaur gave NM State (2-1) an early 2-1 lead when she dismantled Herb at the top singles slot 6-2, 6-1 while
Lindsay Harlas pushed that lead to 3-1 with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Dominique Beauvais at the No. 6 slot.
Hasan brought Weber State within 3-2 of NM State when she took down Novak at the No. 5 position before Keijzerwaard clinched the match with the come-from-behind 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory against Parker at No. 3 singles.
The Aggies will wrap up their time in Sin City with an 11 a.m. (MT) contest against Pacific on Sunday, Jan. 22.
