Las Cruces, N.M. – NM State swimming competed in its final regular season meet as the Aggies fell to New Mexico 193-107.
"Today's meet was filled with high emotions.," assistant coach
Rachel Judge said "It is always very touching to watch the team come together for the seniors last dual meet of their careers. Natalie swims one of the toughest lineups there is, and she has done it since her freshman year, so to watch her finish off her last meet in this pool was amazing."
Lauren Wood finished with the top time of 2:22.04 in the 200-yard breast stroke.
Hanna McGowan finished in third in the event as she clocked in at 2:27.74.
Senior
Natalie French placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle as she finished with a time of 10:46.04. Â
Gabrielle Sanchez (10:54.96) and
Grace Laporte (11:07.01) finished just behind French.
Picabo Bender finished in second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.07.
Johanna Petersson finished just behind Bender with a time of 1:56.63.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Alix Knagg placed third with a time of 58.61. She also clocked in with a time of 2:06.56 in the 200-yard backstroke to come in second.  Pettersson followed behind with a time of 2:07.38.
Makena Sutherland nabbed third in the 50-yard freestyle as she clocked in with a time of 25.03.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Petersson, Sutherland,
Lauryn Dean, and
Sina Wegel placed second with a time of 1:39.24.
Colorado Springs, Colo. – NM State diving team finished the second day of competition at the Air Force Invite on Saturday.
"The girls did awesome today," said diving coach
Miranda King. "Everyone had their best 3-meter list of the season."
Raina Brommer had the best finish of the Aggies as she sat in 8th place after the preliminary rounds with a score of 268.15.
MacKinna Hauff scored 252.80 to finish in 13th.
Abigail Watson followed closely behind in 17th with a score of 244.85.
"It was a stressful, long weekend but the girls did not let that effect their diving," King said. "This weekend was by far the best meet of the season for all five divers and I could not be more proud of their performances."
NM State swimming and diving is back in action February 22 as the team travels to Houston for the WAC Championships.
