KANSAS CITY – The New Mexico State women's tennis team concluded Western Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 victory over Chicago State at the Plaza Tennis Center.

The Aggies improve to 7-11 overall on the year and 3-2 in league play as they return home to wrap up the regular-season before hosting the WAC Championships.

Saturday started with NM State sweeping the Cougars in doubles action. NM State defeated Chicago State (4-15, 0-4 WAC) in order on courts 1-3.

Rimpledeep Kaur was the first to finish once again, this time in singles play as she ousted Mariya Kostyuk 6-3, 6-3 on court No. 1. Kaur is a perfect 5-0 in league play, all of which came at the top singles position. She's also won seven of her last 10 matches with one loss and two matches left unfinished.

Rebecca Keijzerwaard put NM State on top 3-0 shortly thereafter with a 6-3, 6-2 beating of Leshia Gadacz at the No. 3 slot.Â

Vanessa Valdez clinched the match for New Mexico State later on when she defeated Lorea Gamboa 6-4, 6-4 on court No. 2. Carynne Lloyd gave the Cougars their first point of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over
Eli Arnaudova on Court No. 4.
Gabrielle Joyce, who sparingly plays in singles action, forced a third set on court No. 6, but was bested by Judit Aubets 7-5, 5-7, 10-3.
Lindsay Harlas, the Las Cruces native, finished things off with a tough 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 edging of Hanna Pangestu at the No. 5 position.

NM State now returns home for a three-match homestand beginning next Wednesday, April 5, and ending with UT Permian Basin on Saturday, April 8. Western New Mexico be NM State's first obstacle on Wednesday at 2 p.m. (MT) followed by UTSA on Friday, April 7, at noon. Senior day will take place post-match on Saturday, which is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. (MT).
