ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico State women's tennis team concluded play at the UNM Halloween Howl on Sunday on the campus of the University of New Mexico.
Â
Sunday's competition consisted of just doubles play for all six teams as NM State went 1-1 against the Cyclones from Iowa State.
Lindsay Harlas and
Harsha Challa were faced stiff competition from ISU's Annabella Bonadonna and Maty Cancini and fell 6-0 before
Neus Torregrosa and
Yadira Rubio ousted Karen Alvarez and Regina Espindola 6-4 in first match-up of the morning.
Â
The second doubles match against Illinois State saw the duo of Harlas and Challa battle back-and-forth with Laura Fitzgerald and Jana Kustkova before falling 7-6. Torregrosa and Rubio at one point tied things up at 4-4 but weren't able to get over the hump and lost 6-4 to Tara Damnjanovic and Natalia Bravo.
Â
New Mexico State now returns home for a short breather before heading off to the Pacific Northwest for the Gonzaga Invitational, Nov. 2-4, to wrap up its fall slate.
