SPOKANE, Wash. – First day of action wrapped up Friday evening at the Gonzaga Invitational for the New Mexico State women's tennis team at the Stevens Center.

Doubles action opened with
Lindsay Harlas and
Harsha Challa taking down Portland's Anna Oberg and Emily Soares 6-4.
Yadira Rubio and
Neus Torregrosa were bested 6-3 against their counterparts from Portland before
Gavi Kalaga and
Chloe Gavino cruised past the Pilot's Laura Okazai and Raphaelle LeBlanc.

Against the host, Gonzaga, in singles play NM State struggled and was able to just notch a single victory. Torregrosa grabbed the lone win for the Aggies, beating out Gonzaga's Kate Ketels 6-2, 6-2. Gavino was able to force a third set after dropping the first set but wasn't able to fend off GU's Katie Day and fell 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.

Day two of action has NM State facing off against the Bulldogs in doubles play at 2 p.m. (MT) before wrapping up the day at 3 p.m. vs. Idaho in singles.
