Scouting the Islanders
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi heads into Tuesday night's match up with a 5-4 overall record. The two sides met last season in Las Cruces with the Aggies taking a 70-61 decision behind 23 points and nine rebounds from
Brooke Salas.
Gia Pack added 15 points while
Zaire Williams scored 13 with five assists.
The Islanders are led by junior forward Alexes Bryant who is averaging 12.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Bryant has recorded one double-double on the year, scoring 13 and pulling down 11 rebounds against Schreiner on Dec. 14. Texas A&M – Corpus Christi has two other players averaging double figures, senior Tasia Foman is averaging 11.0 points per game while junior Dalesia Booth averages 10.6.
A&M – Corpus Christi boasts a stout defense that is ranked 25
th nationally in field-goal percentage defense. Opponents are shooting just 34.1 percent from the field against the Islanders while they allow just 55.2 points per game, tied for 35
th nationally.

The New Mexico State women's basketball team fell to Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico 75-50 on Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Pan American Center.
The game was back and forth through three quarters with NM State holding a 38-37 lead with 5:48 to go in the third. However, the Lobos closed the game strong for a final score of 75-50.
Brooke Salas recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a season-high 24 points and 11 rebounds.

The NM State women's basketball team continues its road trip with a visit to Miami and the Florida International Holiday Tournament. The Aggies open the tournament with South Alabama on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 12 p.m. (MT) and play either Alcorn State or Florida International on Dec. 21.
