LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team is headed to Kansas City this week for the start of Western Athletic Conference play as UMKC plays host to the first WAC cluster beginning Thursday, March 29.

Heading into this weekend's cluster, NM State is 4-3 on the year when playing on neutral courts and 9-6 overall.

First up for the Aggies will be UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, March 29, at noon (MT) inside the Plaza Tennis Center. The Vaqueros are 8-8 overall on the year and 0-3 in neutral matches. However, UTRGV is riding a four-match winning-streak – three of which came at home.

In singles action, Koby Jansen leads the team with a 15-7 overall record and 10-4 mark in dual play. Meanwhile, Elliot Johnstone and Yehonatan Kaufman are knotted in second with a 10-12 and 10-13 overall record, respectively. The UTRGV pair of Johnstone and Kaufman are 6-4 on the season, but just 0-2 in dual action. Jansen and Kaufman pace the team in dual victories at 5-2 on the season – all at the top doubles slot.

The Aggies then face off against Chicago State on Friday, March 30, at 4 p.m. The Cougars, are 5-12 on the season and 1-2 in neutral play. CSU is scheduled to square off against host UMKC on Thursday to kick things off before facing the Aggies.

Christian Gonzalez leads all players with an 18-9 overall mark in singles play while Rohan Wattley is 15-10 overall for the Cougars. Chicago State's top doubles team of Gonzalez and Felix Savard own an 18-7 record and 14-3 mark in dual action. The next closest tandem only has four wins.

Lastly, New Mexico State will battle Seattle U on Saturday, March 31, with a 1 p.m. first serve. The Redhawks are set to take on Grand Canyon on Thursday followed by UMKC on Friday before taking the court against the Aggies. As a team, Seattle U is 7-9 overall and 0-2 on neutral courts. SU has lost six of its last 10 matches entering this week's WAC cluster as well.

Colton Weeldreyer paces the squad at 14-11 overall in singles action and 9-6 in dual play with split time between the No. 2 and No. 3 singles position. Emilio Monroy is the only other Redhawk with double-digit wins in singles play, checking in at 12-12 on the season and 7-8 this spring. SU has a pair of doubles tandems tied for the team lead in wins with six.

The Aggies will get a week off after they return from the City of Fountains before taking off for Chicago for the second WAC cluster to close conference play and square off against DePaul on Sun., April 15, to conclude the regular-season.
