@NMStateMTEN Unveils 2018-19 Schedule

NM State head men’s tennis coach Carlos Vargas unveiled the schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 campaign on Thursday.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Fresh off his third Western Athletic Conference Tournament title in four years, New Mexico State head men's tennis coach Carlos Vargas unveiled the team's schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 campaign.

This year's schedule features five home matches in addition to the Aggie Invitational. The Aggies will make stops in Nevada, Arizona, Texas, California, Mississippi, Louisiana and Washington. NM State will once again have one of the most arduous schedules in the country like it did back during the 2017 dual season. This time, the Aggies have 61-consecutive days between matches at home that'll see them play 16 matches across the country, spanning from the West Coast to South.

NM State opens the 2018-19 season at home as it plays host to the Aggie Invitational once again (Sept. 14-16) before traveling to the Arizona Invitational (Sept. 21-23) the week after. With three weeks to rest up and train, the Aggies then make their first trip to Las Vegas, Nev., for the ITA Mountain Regional Oct. 16-19 to wrap up the fall slate.

The dual season kicks off on Jan. 26 when NM State entertains Mesa Community College followed by Western New Mexico the following day on Monday, Jan. 27, at the NM State Tennis Center.

Vargas and company then make their way to Sin City once more for four matches on the campus of UNLV. The Aggies are schedule to take on the host Rebels first on Friday, Feb. 1, before taking on UC Riverside and Weber State the next day. NM State wraps up the three-day trip with a battle with the Rainbow Warriors from Hawaii on Sunday, Feb. 3.

A quick drive down I-10 against Arizona on Feb. 9 gives NM State a couple weeks of rest before heading back to Corpus Christi, Texas, for the H-E-B Tournament of Champions (Feb. 22-23). NM State then heads to UT Arlington for a March 3 contest before returning to Sacramento, Calif., for the Golden State Invitational (March 8-9) after skipping out on it last season.

The Aggies then try to make it two-straight against Battle of I-10 rival New Mexico on Sunday, March 17, up in #Aggiequerque before flying to the Gulf Shores for spring break. First up on the docket will be the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss on March 24. The Aggies then drive down to the New Orleans for matches against New Orleans (March 25) and Nicholls State (March 26).

When NM State returns, it'll play host to the first Western Athletic Conference pod (March 29-31) as UT Rio Grande Valley, Chicago State and Kansas City converge in Las Cruces. Two weeks later, the Aggies head to Seattle, Wash., for the final conference pod and open up against Grand Canyon (April 12) before wrapping up league play against host Seattle U (April 13).

UTRGV serves as the WAC Tournament (April 26-28) in 2019 as NM State looks to defend its tournament title and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in five years.
