LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's golf team played two rounds to complete the first day of action on the UNM Championship Golf Course at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Friday. Through 36 holes, the Aggies have shot a 291-294—585 (+9) and sit in ninth place out of 17 competitors.
Individual play for NM State features freshman
Cameron Gambini leading the way after firing a 69-73—142 (-2) to put himself in a tie for eighth. Gambini also leads the team with eight birdies at the end of day one.
Mike McGilton follows behind in a tie for 32
nd shooting 73-73—146 (+2).
Tadhg Campbell sits at five-over, 149, with rounds of 79 and 70 to open play putting the Aggie in a tie for 52
nd.
Tristin Goodwin fired a 71-84—155 (+11) to tie for 83
rd and
Garrison Smith rounds out the lineup with a 78-78—156 (+12) to tie for 87
th.
Heading into the final day of action, UNLV sits atop the team leaderboard at 562 (-14), followed by BYU in second at 565 (-11) and Pepperdine completes the top three after registering a team score of 568 (-8).
