@NMStateMTEN Gets Its First Road Test in Vegas

The NM State men’s tennis team heads to Las Vegas, Nev., for four matches to open its long road trip.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team heads to Las Vegas this weekend for its first road trip of the dual season. The Aggies are set to play four matches in a three-day span at the Fertitta Tennis Complex located on the campus of UNLV.

The weekend kicks off for the Aggies when they face host UNLV on Friday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. (MT). NM State will look to snap a six-match losing streak against the Rebels when the two square off. The last time NM State defeated UNLV came on Feb. 5, 2012, 5-2. This is the second home match of the season for the Rebels. UNLV is currently sitting at 1-0 after a tight 4-3 victory over Portland.

The second day of action for New Mexico State starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, when it faces Weber State before ending the day with a match against UC Riverside at 3 p.m.

Weber State is off to a rough start after going 0-4 in its first four matches of the dual season. Most recently, the Wildcats fell on the road to Denver 5-2, in what was their closest match of the season.

UC Riverside will be heading to Vegas after a quick stop in Cedar City, Utah, when it faces Southern Utah. The Highlanders already have six matches under their belt early on in the dual season and are 3-2 overall heading into this weekend.

The three-day four-match weekend comes to a close when NM State faces Hawai'i on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. The Rainbow Warriors have only played in one match thus far on the island, a 6-1 loss to Louisville.

New Mexico State continues its arduous road swing after the weekend in Sin City, heading west to Tucson, Ariz., for a match against Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 9, before flying to Corpus Christi, Texas, for the HEB Invitational (Feb. 22-23).
