@NMStateWBB Welcomes Pepperdine, Readies for Battle of I-10

Aggies set to host Pepperdine before trip to El Paso for Battle of I-10.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team is back in action when it plays host to Pepperdine on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. before traveling to El Paso for the Battle of I-10 on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m.

Fans unable to attend Wednesday's matchup with Pepperdine can catch all the action on the WAC Digital Network. Fans can tune into C-USA TV for Saturday's Battle of I-10.

Prince-ly Start to the Year
Aaliyah Prince has been outstanding so far through three games of the 2019-20 season. She started the season with three-straight 20-point games, including a career-high 24 in the opener against UC Riverside. The San Antonio, Texas, native is averaging 20.8 points per game so far this season.
 
Prince also finds herself in the top-20 nationally in a few statistical categories. She ranks 17th in field goals made (32) and 20th in total points (83).
 
Back(Pack)ing Up the Record Book
Through four games of the 2019-20 season, Gia Pack is in 14th place on the NM State all-time scoring list with 1,329 points.

Scouting the Waves
The Waves enter Wednesday night's contest with a 1-2 record overall with a 52-51 loss to Hawai'I in their last game. Two years ago in Malibu, the Aggies beat Pepperdine 86-64 behind 32 points from Brooke Salas.
 
Pepperdine is struggling on offense this season, averaging just 54.0 points per game and shooting .314 from the field. The waves are led by sophomore guard Malia Bambrick at 9.7 points per game with Paige Fecske not far behind at 9.5 points per game.
 
A Look at the Miners
UTEP readies for the Battle of I-25 with a 3-1 record, coming off a 93-78 loss to New Mexico. On Nov. 13 in the Pan American Center, the Miners won a hard-fought Battle of I-10 63-57.
 
Senior Katarina Zec leads the Miners at 17.0 points per game. She is also averaging 5.5 rebounds and is shooting a scorching 64.7-percent from three. As a team, the Miners are averaging 74 points per game and are shooting the three ball well, making 35.8-percent of their shots from deep.
