LAS CRUCES, N.M. – On a cold and blustering Friday, the New Mexico State women's tennis team topped Division II power Central Oklahoma 4-3 at the NM State Tennis Center.

NM State took the doubles point to go up 1-0 over the 11th-ranked Bronchos behind wins on courts No. 3 and No. 1.
Chloe Gavino and
Rebecca Keijzerwaard cruised to a 6-2 win at the third doubles spot before
Harsha Challa and
Gavi Kalaga took down their counterpart on court No. 1 6-3.

Yadira Rubio gave the Aggies a 2-0 advantage after besting Nikki Boyar in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles slot. Central Oklahoma picked up its first point on court No. 1 when Keijzerwaard was taken down.

Lindsay Harlas extended the NM State lead to 3-1 when she took down No. 2-ranked Isabella Dunlap 6-2, 6-1 on court No. 2. UCO didn't back down though and cut the Aggie lead to 3-2 when Paola Landin rallied down a set to defeat
Neus Torregrosa 3-6, 6-0, 7-5.

NM State then saw the match get tied up at 3-3 when
Chloe Gavino was ousted in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 on court No. 6. Down one set, Challa battled back to take the second set and sweep the third set 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 and clinch the match for the Aggies.

New Mexico State remains at home this weekend as it plays host to UTSA on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. (MT). As with all matches, admission is free for all men's and women's tennis matches at the NM State Tennis Center.
