Menard Earns Player of the Week Honors

NM State men’s tennis sophomore was named the WAC Singles Player of the Week.

DENVER – New Mexico State men's tennis sophomore Louis Menard was named this week's Western Athletic Conference Singles Player of the Week after going undefeated in Las Vegas this past weekend.

This is the first weekly honor for NM State during the dual season this year and first for Menard this season as well.

The Annecy, France, product first opened up with a comeback victory against UNLV's Eric Samuelsson 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Menard then followed up with an easy 6-2, 6-1 win against UC Riverside's Vignesh Subramanyan before wrapping up the weekend with a hard-fought 7-6, 6-3 win against Hawaii's Lucas Labrunie to clinch the win for NM State.

Menard moved to 4-0 in dual action after this past weekend, all at the No. 2 singles position, and paces the team with a 13-4 overall record in singles play this year.

New Mexico State (4-1) remains on the road again and will play a familiar opponent in Arizona (3-1) this Saturday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. (MT) inside the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
