FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision Friday afternoon to Northern Arizona at the Aquatic and Tennis Complex to start its weekend.

In doubles action, NM State's (1-3) top tandem lost 6-1 before
Yadira Rubio and
Chloe Gavino tied thing sup with a 6-3 win on court No. 3. Tied 3-3,
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and
Lindsay Harlas did their best to fend off NAU's Ellie Millard and Hanneke Lodewijks but ultimately fell 6-3 – giving NAU the 1-0 lead.

Due to injury, NAU (3-3) forfeited the No. 6 singles position in singles play which knotted it up at 1-1. However, that didn't last long with Rubio getting bested on court No. 3 6-1, 6-2. Keijzerwaard had her hands full against No. 106 Chiara Tomasetti at the top singles position and dropped her matched 6-1, 6-2.

Harlas gave the Aggies their second point of the day after battling back to take the next two sets 0-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Gavi Kalaga had a tooth-and-nail battle with Madi Moore at the No. 5 singles position but couldn't hold on and fell 7-6, 6-3.

NM State will wrap up its time in Flagstaff with a 10 a.m. (MT) match against Utah State on Saturday, Feb. 9.
