COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The New Mexico State University swimming and diving team was named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association Scholar All-America team for the spring 2019 semester, the CSCAA announced Tuesday.
Â
"We're really proud of our team's continued efforts in the classroom," said head coach
Rick Pratt. "We have had a long streak of team GPAs above a 3.2 and it says a lot about our culture and the academic support our athletes receive. Athletics plays an important part of their educational experience and to balance both like they do is exceptional."
Â
The CSCAA named 777 teams from 480 institutions across NCAA, NJCAA and NAIA to the Scholar All-America team, a new record. Teams qualified by posting a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the spring semester.
Â
NM State achieved a 3.37 GPA during the spring 2019 semester, the 28
th-consecutive semester in which the Aggies have recorded a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Under Pratt, New Mexico State has earned the honor every semester since the organization's founding in 2010.
