2020-21 NM State Women's Soccer Schedule (WAC games only)
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - February is officially soccer season for the Aggies.
Monday afternoon, the Western Athletic Conference unveiled its composite women's soccer schedule for the 2020-21 academic year and the Aggies - along with the other seven teams in the WAC - will begin their 14-game WAC slate in February of 2021.
The league announced the postponement of each of its fall sports on August 13, 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and now the Aggies will lace up their cleats in the spring. NM State's WAC schedule is a double round-robin format with back-to-back matches against the same opponent at the same site. The schedule also features two single-match weeks for all teams.
NM State starts its 2021 campaign at home, hosting Chicago State in the league opener for both teams on Thursday, Feb. 18. Two days later (Saturday, Feb. 20), the Aggies and Cougars will match up with one another again at the NM State Soccer Athletic Complex.
Each of the Aggies' next three fixtures will take place on the road, beginning with a two-game swing at Utah Valley (Thursday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 27). NM State's first single-match week of the league schedule sends the Aggies to Phoenix, Ariz., to tangle with Grand Canyon on Saturday, March 6.
From there, the Aggies will alternate between home and away matches for the remainder of their WAC bouts. UTRGV will pay a visit to Las Cruces for league games on Thursday, March 11 and Saturday, March 13 before NM State travels to Riverside, Calif., for a pair of tilts at California Baptist (Thursday, March 18 and Saturday, March 20).
League newcomer Dixie State travels south to Las Cruces to challenge the Aggies on Thursday, March 25 and Saturday, March 27. Following those matches, NM State makes its final regular season WAC road trip of the year when it heads to the Pacific Northwest to challenge Seattle U on Thursday, April 1 and Saturday, April 3.
The Aggies are scheduled to close out their regular season conference schedule at home on Friday, April 9, when they host Grand Canyon. Should NM State make the cut for the WAC Tournament, it will head to host institution Grand Canyon and go on a quest for a league tournament crown on Tuesday, April 13, Thursday, April 15 and Saturday, April 17.
