HOUSTON – A major water break which has closed the University of Houston campus has forced the Western Athletic Conference to cancel Thursday's evening session of the 2020 WAC Swimming and Diving Championship.
After a vote of the coaches, it was decided to score Thursday's preliminary races as timed finals. In addition, because the UH campus will be closed again on Friday, further adjustments have been made to allow just student-athletes, coaches, staff and other essential personnel will be allowed in CRWC Natatorium for a single session, beginning at 10:30 a.m.Â
Â
Friday's single session will include the 200 freestyle relays which were originally scheduled for Thursday night, as well as the men's 1-Meter and women's 3-Meter dive finals. The men's Platform dive, which was originally scheduled for Friday, will now take place on Saturday along with the women's Platform dive.
Â
The WAC Digital Network plans on providing a limited broadcast of Friday's session.
The Aggies 200 Medley Relay squad of Maude Boily-Dufour, Neza Kocijan, Ashley Reynolds and Reagan Nentwich captured a WAC Championship and set a school record with a time of 1:39.94.
Updates regarding the opening of the University of Houston can be found at http://alerts.uh.edu/. The WAC will post any further updates at WACsports.com and the WAC's Twitter and Facebook pages.
