SEATTLE, Wash. - The NM State women's soccer team (4-11-1) came back from two goals down, but Seattle U (10-4-2) prevailed, defeating the Aggies 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Championship Field in Seattle, Wash.
The two teams were scoreless in the first 45 minutes, but the Redhawks struck quickly out of halftime with a goal in the 46th minute. The Redhawks added another goal in the 51st minute, but
Jocelyn Tallent-Burleson put a ball just over the outstretched arms of the goalie for her first career goal. The Redhawks answered with a goal of its own in the 74th minute. The Aggies didn't go down quietly, as
Xitlaly Hernandez scored her sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick to bring the Aggies back within one. The Aggies had a couple of shots on goal from Tallent-Burleson and Hernandez, but they weren't able to find the back of the net.
The Aggies will close out the regular season at home when they take on Grand Canyon. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on Friday.
