ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains Final Results
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The NM State men's tennis team is bringing some hardware back to Las Cruces.
Gijs Akkermans and Corey Clarke completed their perfect run through the doubles bracket at the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains Saturday morning, helping the NM State men's tennis team complete their run at its second event of the fall.
DOUBLES
• Akkermans and Clarke handed Montana State's pairing of Matej Panik and Daan van Dijk a 6-3 loss in the championship match of the doubles flight. Through the course of the three-day event, Akkermans and Clarke went a perfect 5-0.
SINGLES
• An all-Aggies back draw match in the Blue Draw featuring Clarke and Martin Simecek went unplayed.
• The only other NM State competitor in singles action on the final day of the event was Ryan Ford. He dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Denver's Relja Eskic. That match was part of the Eagle Bracket, a Silver Draw consolation bracket.
COMING UP NEXT
• NM State has a quick turnaround as they'll head to Provo, Utah, to take part in the ITA Mountain Regional hosted by BYU. The five-day regional tournament begins Tuesday, Sept. 21 and wraps up on Saturday, Sept. 25.
