Visser and Fé D'Ostiani Lead the Way on Day One of Mountain Regional

Doubles play to begin on Friday morning

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Aggies traveled 300 miles north to kick off the five-day-long ITA Mountain Regional on Thursday as they competed in the first round of singles play. Additionally, several Aggies also competed at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex in the Lobo Invite hosted by The University of New Mexico.

Senior Jordy Visser was the lone Aggie to tally a win in the 64-man ITA-organized bracket – defeating UNLV's Dusan Rsovac, 6-4, 6-4. Meanwhile, Luca Fé D'Ostiani also found his footing as he knocked off Montana State-Bozeman's Jacob Huppin in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
Despite falling in the round of 32 of the Lobo Invite, Vassanth Mathan battled to two tiebreakers with BYU's Alex Lin – dropping the match by a score of 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3). Freshman Yehor Opanasenko also looked solid as the Kyiv, Ukraine, native pushed Lin's teammate Brian Chen to a tiebreaker in the second set before falling 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
