Senior from France riding seven-match singles winning streak

Complete WAC Release

DENVER -
The WAC's top team also boasts its best singles performer over the course of the last seven days.

In a release issued by the Western Athletic Conference Wednesday afternoon, NM State men's tennis senior Louis Menard has been named the WAC Single Player of the Week.

Currently on a seven-match winning streak and the owner of a team-best nine singles victories, the Annecy, France, product owns a perfect 4-0 record in showdowns against WAC opponents this season. Menard's most recent pair of wins came in Beaumont, Texas, last weekend to help the Aggies remain atop the league standings.

NM State's top-line singles player, Menard started his weekend with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Chicago State's Pedro Alvarez. The following day, he came up with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Seattle U's Julian Worn. Both of Menard's wins were of the match-clinching variety as NM State ran its winning streak to four matches.

With Menard on their side, the Aggies have their sights set on another WAC regular-season crown. NM State currently sits in a tie with Lamar (12-6, 4-0 WAC) for the top spot in the league standings.

Menard and the rest of the Aggies will be competing for at least a share of the 2022 WAC regular-season title the next time they hit the courts. NM State will travel to Abilene, Texas, on Friday-Saturday, April 9-10 for its final two regular-season league matches of the year. The two top teams in the league will duke it out at 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, when NM State takes on Lamar.
