NM State Takes to Texas for the H-E-B Tournament of Champions

Aggies look to build off first win of the season on Tuesday.

THE FIRST SERVE
• NM State returns to the road for three matches across two days as they take part in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
• The Aggies are coming off their first win of the season as they earned a 4-0 sweep of Western New Mexico on Tuesday afternoon.
•Head Coach Carlos Vargas and the Aggies are slated to begin their weekend with a Friday morning match against Louisiana.
• Following the competition with the Ragin' Cajuns, the Aggies will then face off with either Texas A&M-Corpus Christi or DePaul on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.
• Abilene Christian, Radford, Oral Roberts and UTSA will also be competing to be crowned champions in south Texas.
• Last Tuesday, senior Jordy Visser earned a pair of singles wins at the No. 1 spot to become the Aggies' leader in solo victories.
• Meanwhile, Luca Fé D'Ostiani and Patrick Lohmann also claimed their first singles wins of the season in the Aggies' win over Western New Mexico on Valentine's Day.
Jordy Visser and Yehor Opanasenko still remain the Aggies' top doubles team with a 4-3 record on the season, including going 3-0 at the No. 2 spot this year.
• Among the field this weekend is the No. 8 doubles team in the country in UTSA's duo of Alan Magadan and Sebastian Rodriguez.
 
UP NEXT
• The Aggies will be away from the NM State Tennis Center next week too as they make their way to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in the ASU Invitational hosted by Arizona State.
