ST. GEORGE, UTAH – Following an offensive explosion on Tuesday night, NM State looks to build and keep the rhythm going with three games at Utah Tech this weekend.
NM State is still looking to pick up the first conference win under interim head coach
Keith Zuniga. The Aggies picked up the first win of the 2023 campaign on Tuesday night against OUAZ. In the victory,
Keith Jones II and
Nick Gore both homered twice to power the Aggies to seven long balls on the night.
This weekend,
Treyjen Meza will once again take the ball on Friday night for the Aggies. From there, the pitching rotation will look a little different as
Pablo Cortes will start on Saturday with Sunday's starter yet to be announced.

KEEP UP WITH THE JONES'
Against Ottawa (Ariz.),
Keith Jones II became the first Aggie to homer twice in an inning since Tristan Peterson did so against Texas Southern on February 17, 2019. Jones II and
Nick Gore both had multi-home run nights against the Spirit - Something an Aggie hadn't done since April 10, 2022 (
Tommy Tabak vs. Sacramento State)
LIGHT TOWER POWER
Powered by the four home runs between Jones II and Gore, NM State launched seven home runs in the midweek tilt against OUAZ. The seven home run effort was the most by any team in the WAC this season and is tied for the second-highest total in a Division I game this season.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
In the victory over OUAZ, NM State exploded for 23 runs, more than half of the runs scored over the first 13 games of the season (42).
TURNING TWO
On Friday, March 10 the Aggies turned a season-high three double plays at Grand Canyon. Just two days later, NM State matched the number with three more double plays in the Sunday game. NM State is currently turning 1.08 double plays per game, which is tied for eighth-best in Division I.
BIG HIT MITCH
In his first career start, true freshman
Mitch Namie recorded a three-hit game. Namie smoked three singles in the Aggies' 4-3 loss in ten innings to Pacific on March 4.
FOR THE RECORD...
Infielder
Kevin Jimenez sits inside or near the top-ten in NM State school history for many offensive categories. With 47 career doubles, Jimenez needs just 14 this season to become NM State's all-time two-bag leader.
WALK IT OUT
Kevin Jimenez has drawn 116 career walks - The fourth most in NM State history. Jimenez passed Tanner White (2010-11) on February 25 vs. Northwestern State in Sugar Land, Texas. Jimenez sits four walks behind Chris Fanning (1988-91; 120) to move into a tie for third place.
