Four Aggies Join Lengthy List of Men's Tennis All-WAC Honorees

Clarke, Fé D'Ostiani, Visser and Opanasenko named to all-conference lists.

ARLINGTON, Texas – For the eighth consecutive season, NM State men's tennis landed at least four players among the list of All-WAC honorees which recognizes the top student-athletes based on a vote of the league's head coaches.

Corey Clarke and Luca Fé D'Ostiani each secured a spot on the All-WAC Second Team for their success in singles action while the duo of Jordy Visser and Yehor Opanasenko also earned Second Team All-WAC distinction for their work as a team during doubles play.

Australian senior Corey Clarke picked up the second All-WAC award of his career as he helped lead the Aggies from the No. 1 spot this season. Clarke finished the regular season with a 2-3 record in WAC competition. In his final season with the Aggies, Clarke helped spark an Aggie victory over Grand Canyon as he defeated Jonathan Da Silva 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 earlier this month.

Fé D'Ostiani, a sophomore out of Torino, Italy, made a big leap for Head Coach Carlos Vargas during his second year with the program. After not appearing in a single WAC match in his freshman year, Fé D'Ostiani led the Aggies in singles wins against WAC opponents in 2022-23 after finishing the year with a 3-1 league record. Fé D'Ostiani became a staple in the Aggies' lineup late in the season and maintained a perfect 3-0 mark at the No. 6 position in conference play.

Lastly, the team consisting of a battle-tested senior and a talented freshman made waves in the WAC this season as Jordy Visser and Yehor Opanasenko teamed up to finish the year with a 3-2 doubles record in league play. The tandem began WAC play with a perfect 3-0 record before recording its first loss. Amid their three-match win streak, Visser and Opanasenko served as tone-setters for the Aggies in their win over Grand Canyon as the duo defeated GCU's No. 1 doubles team by a score of 6-1. Additionally, Visser and Opanasenko picked up WAC Doubles Team of the Week honors on April 5 following a 2-0 weekend. For Visser, this marks the second all-conference selection after being named to the honorable mention list in 2021.
