ARLINGTON, Texas – The Aggies' season came to a conclusion on Thursday afternoon as they fell to Grand Canyon in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament at the Arlington Tennis Center.
Although NM State upended the Lopes earlier this season, today would belong to Grand Canyon as the Aggies dropped the match by a score of 4-0.
NM State fell at No. 2 and No. 3 in doubles action to fall behind early and enter singles action in need of four wins. Once singles play began, a pair of Aggies showed signs of life as
Roko Stipetic and
Patrick Lohmann managed wins in their opening sets. Stipetic claimed a 6-3 win over Alfred Almasi at No. 3 while Lohmann picked up a 6-4 victory over Mattia Ghedin at No. 6.
Unfortunately, the Aggies would ultimately fall at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 to grant Grand Canyon the match win and a matchup with No. 2 Abilene Christian on Friday.
