Aggies' Visser and Opanasenko Named WAC Doubles Team of the Week

Visser and Opanasenko combine to start WAC play with a perfect 2-0 record in doubles action.

ARLINGTON, Texas – Aggie duo Jordy Visser and Yehor Opanasenko have been named the WAC Doubles Team of the Week immediately following a 2-0 weekend that included one of their most impressive wins of the season.

Visser, a native of Bemmel, Netherlands, and Opanasenko, a Kyiv, Ukraine, product combined to earn back-to-back wins over Seattle U's No. 1 doubles team and Grand Canyon's No. 1 doubles team.

On Friday afternoon, the Aggie tandem worked their way to a 6-2 win over the Redhawk's Clement Hamel and Veselin Kiselkov. Visser and Opanasenko continued their strong play by taking down GCU's Jonathan Da Silva and David Wekesa by a commanding score of 6-1 on Sunday at the NM State Tennis Center.

With the two wins, Visser and Opanasenko now hold the highest win total of any Aggie doubles team at six victories. Meanwhile, they are one of only three doubles teams in the WAC with a perfect 2-0 record through the first weekend of league play.

This marks the third time in his career that Jordy Visser has been a member of a WAC Doubles Team of the Week – doing so twice in 2021 alongside Nicolas Buitrago. Meanwhile, this is the first time that freshman Yehor Opanasenko has collected a weekly honor.

Visser, Opanasenko and the rest of the Aggies will resume competition tomorrow when they hit the road to face UTRGV. The Aggies will then take on UT Arlington on Saturday before concluding the season on April 16 on the road at Abilene Christian.
