COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a pair of Aggie wins on Friday, NM State took part in three matches on Friday at the ITA Mountain Regional.
NM State's
Itay Feigin lined up against Weber State's Connor Kruger in the round of 16 of the consolation bracket on the campus of the Air Force Academy. Feigin dropped the opening set, however, he responded nicely with a dominant 6-1 win in the second set to set up a tiebreak set. In the tiebreaker, Feigin went back-and-forth with Kruger before pulling away with a 10-8 win.
With the win over Kruger, Feigin earned a spot in the consolation quarterfinals where he met Utah State's Phillip Rein. Against Rein, Feigin again dropped the opening set, yet he did not give up and battled back to take the second set 6-4 before clinching the match with a 13-11 win in the tiebreak set.
