LAS VEGAS, Nev. – NM State continued competition at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships today, highlighted by Holland Snell and Lance Urlaub advancing to the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw.
After earning a first-round bye and a win on opening day, the Aggie tandem carried their momentum into Thursday's round of 32, defeating New Mexico's Philip Bosin and Alberto Perez, 8-5, to secure a spot in the round of 16. With another strong showing later in the day, Snell and Urlaub punched their ticket to the quarterfinals, continuing what has been an impressive fall campaign for the pair.
In singles play, both Aggies competing in the main draw faced tough opposition. Tobias Wallin dropped a three-set battle to Air Force's Deaton Phillip, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3, while Snell fell to Nevada's Axel Huysmans, 7-6, 6-1.
Day three of the regional tournament continues tomorrow, as Snell and Urlaub look to extend their doubles run and earn a berth in the semifinals.
