DALLAS, Texas – Following an outstanding weekend of play, NM State saw two of its top performers earn Conference USA recognition for their stellar efforts. Tobias Wallin was named CUSA Athlete of the Week, while he and Gustavo Campos were honored as the CUSA Doubles Team of the Week - marking the first time this season that the Aggies have received either accolade.
Wallin claimed Athlete of the Week honors after delivering a dominant performance in singles play, going a flawless 3-0 from the No. 2 spot. His weekend was highlighted by a pivotal victory over Texas Tech's Tyler Stewart (7-5, 6-2, 6-2), which helped NM State secure a historic win - its first over the Red Raiders since 2001. He closed out the weekend with back-to-back straight-set victories against UTRGV and Lubbock Christian.
The Aggies also earned recognition for their success in doubles action, as Wallin and Campos teamed up to post an undefeated 2-0 record. Their statement win over the weekend was a crucial 6-4 win over Texas Tech, playing a key role in NM State's milestone victory. They were on the verge of adding a third doubles win against Lubbock Christian, leading 4-3 before the match went unfinished.
