COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Aggies opened competition at the Bedford Cup on Friday with an encouraging showing, highlighted by four victories in singles action and three wins in doubles play.
Sophomore Matias Rojas delivered one of the Aggies' top performances, outlasting Utah State's Eemil Pasanen 6-3, 7-6 to secure a gritty straight-sets win. Tobias Wallin also impressed with a clutch 7-6, 7-5 decision over Sander Paradis. Elsewhere, Holland Snell cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win against Mikolaj Lis, while Lance Urlaub handled Connor Kruger in three identical sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles action, Rojas and Wallin teamed up to edge Pasanen and Nejedly-Krall of Utah State, 6-4. Snell and Urlaub also came through in a tight 7-6 match over Idaho's Wang and Martin Roca, while Ricardo Mercado and Roko Stipetic paired to post a commanding 6-2 victory against Idaho's De Col and Glasl.
NM State will continue play in Colorado Springs on Saturday as the Aggies look to build on their strong start to the Bedford Cup.
