COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Aggies kept a strong start rolling at the Bedford Cup on Saturday, notching seven singles wins and three doubles victories across another full day of play.
The Raptor draw proved especially fruitful, as Tobias Wallin and Matias Rojas each went unbeaten with two wins apiece. Wallin first outlasted Tom Noltorp of Denver in a grueling three-set match, then followed with a straight-sets triumph over Air Force's Matthew Staton. Rojas also impressed, securing back-to-back three-set battles, including a tight 7-6 finish in both of his victories against BYU's Caden Hasler and Idaho's Gabriel Moroder.
Roko Stipetic joined the winning column with a dominant day, posting straight-set wins over NAU's Kai Mills and Idaho's Eric Wang. Holland Snell split his results in the Lightning draw, defeating NAU's Takumi Katsuda before falling to Air Force's Jack Brown. Meanwhile, Lance Urlaub also finished 1-1, battling through a three-set victory over Air Force's AJ Moore after dropping his opener to Idaho's Chetanna Amadike. Patrick Lohmann capped off the singles success with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win over Idaho's Noe De Col.
In doubles action, the Aggies put together another set of quality results. Snell and Urlaub combined for two wins, besting teams from NAU and Weber State. Stipetic and Ricardo Mercado also picked up a 6-4 victory against Utah State, while the pairing of Rojas and Wallin fell in their Flight A matchup against Air Force.
The Aggies will return to the courts Sunday for the final day of play at the Bedford Cup.
