Aggies Fall in Doubleheader at Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – NM State continued its early-season road slate on today with a doubleheader against Arizona at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Aggies battled throughout the day but ultimately fell in both matches to the Wildcats, 7-0, in each contest. 
 
MATCH ONE | NM State 0, Arizona 7 
The Aggies opened the day against Arizona in the morning session, facing a deep Wildcats lineup. NM State competed in doubles play, with the No. 2 pairing of Laurendi Fischer and Thomas Dufortes keeping things close before dropping a 6-4 decision. 

In singles, Roko Stipetic put together a strong effort at the top of the lineup, pushing Jay Friend in a competitive first set before falling 7-5, 6-4. Despite solid battles across the lineup, Arizona secured the remaining points to take the match. 
 
MATCH TWO | NM State 0, Arizona 7 
In the afternoon match, NM State returned to the courts looking to build off the morning's experience. The Aggies once again faced a tough challenge in doubles, with Arizona claiming the opening point. 

The Aggies showed resilience in singles play, including Holland Snell and Laurendi Fischer, who each fought through physical matches in the middle of the lineup. Roko Stipetic again anchored the top spot, competing through two close sets before Arizona ultimately closed out the dual. 
 
UP NEXT 
NM State will have a few days off to regroup before heading to Las Vegas for the UNLV Quad, which begins on Jan. 23.
