AGGIE DEBUT
The Aggie faithful got a chance to watch the newcomers make their debut on Friday night as Chancellor Ellis, Jemerrio Jones, Joe Garza and Marlon Jones all stepped foot onto Lou Henson Court for the first time donning the Crimson and White.

M. Jones had the best debut amongst the newcomers, scoring 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting to go with four boards and assist and block. Ellis was next in scoring with six points while Garza, a Las Cruces native, tallied three assists and one rebound. J. Jones was everything as advertised, finishing with two points, two boards, four assists three steals and a block.

ALLOW US TO REINTRODUCE OURSELVES
Friday's season and home-opener saw a very different Aggie team compared to those from the Marvin Menzies era. NM State was much more active on the offensive end and really put the pressure on Arizona Christian's backcourt with NM State pushing the rock up the floor.

The Aggies upgraded defense forced 22 turnovers and turned them into 36 points. In the paint, the NM State big men gave NM State a 22-8 edge in points off turnovers while the Aggies as a team outscored Arizona Christian 40-10 in the paint.

On the offensive end, NM State had seven players reach double-figures while Jalyn Pennie and Eli Chuha both registering double-doubles. Guard Sidy N'Dir tied his career-high of 14 on 4-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-3 from downtown. In addition, Matt Taylor also had a new career-high in points with 13 while Chuha's 12 rebounds was a new high for the redshirt sophomore. The 100 points was also the most by an Aggie team since Hawaii on Feb. 23, 2012.

ENTER THE RAMS
Colorado State enters the 2016-17 season having lost 4-of-5 starters, including All-Mountain West pick Antwan Scott and Joe DeCiman. The Rams finished 18-16 overall last year and 8-10 in Mountain West play before falling in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Entering Sunday's game, Emmanuel Omogbo will be the only returner who played significant minutes for Colorado State after the recent suspension of Gian Clavell. Clavell averaged a team-best 20.8 points, 6.9 rebounds to go with his .455 shooting clip.

This will be the sixth match-up between New Mexico State and Colorado State as the Aggies trail the all-time series 4-1 and has yet to win a game in Ft. Collins (0-3). The last time these two teams took the court, NM State dropped a heartbreaking 58-57 loss to then No. 24/25 Colorado State in overtime at the Pan American Center.

Colorado State defeated NCAA Division II Regis 75-60 last week in an exhibition game at Moby Arena. Omogbo led all scorers with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting and nine rebounds. Clavell picked up a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds while J.D. Paiged added 13 points and five assists. Nico Carvacho, a 6-foot-11 center, had nine points on the night while Prentiss Nixon finished with six points.

BAKER NAMED TO PRESEASON WATCH LIST
Senior guard Ian Baker was named to the Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List on Wednesday the award committee announced. The honor is especially meaningful for the Aggies with the legendary head coach having led New Mexico State and currently serves as a special advisor to the team. The recipient of the 2017 Lou Henson Award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet on April 31 in Phoenix, site of the men's Division I basketball championship.

MOVIN' ON UP
With the start of his senior season, Ian Baker will have a chance to move himself up the all-time career-list in the 3-point shooting category at New Mexico State. The senior is currently seventh all-time in 3-pointers made with 138, and could move all the way up to third all-time if numbers are similar to that of last season. The same should go for the 3-point field-goal attempts category. Baker is also tied for seventh right now with Gordo Castillo (2007-11) in the career 3-point shooting-percentage, checking in with a .407 clip heading into the start of the season.

GO, GO, GO!
With the 2016-17 season beginning this past Friday, Nov. 11, it was the start of a wild 15-day stretch for NM State. The Aggies are set to play seven games in 15 days, including three on the road and will be traveling over 3,000 miles between three states during that stretch.

HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE
New Mexico State has enjoyed a lot of success in the friendly confines of the Pan American Center throughout the years and history proves it. Heading into the 2016-17 season, NM State is 589-151 (.796) all-time inside the Pan Am and can notch its 600th win this season.

With the home-opening 100-52 win on Friday, the Aggies inch one game closer to reaching the 600 win plateau since the opening of the Pan Am Center.

Since its debut in the Pan Am Center for the 1968-69 season, NM State has gone undefeated four times, with the last perfect season at home coming in 1989-90. Heading into its 49th season at the Pan Am, NM State has only had seven season with less than 10 wins and of those seven season, the Aggies have been under .500 at home twice through 741 games.

MAYFIELD BAND TAKES CENTER STAGE
The Mayfield High School Band, under the direction of Johnnie Lee Lang, was the honorary pep band for the NM State Men's Basketball home-opener on Friday, Nov. 11 when the Aggies took on Arizona Christian.  About 30 members of the Mayfield Band filled section 117 in the Pan American Center for the first home game of 2016-17 season. Along with providing a fun game-day atmosphere, the addition of the Mayfield band serves as way to re-incorporate the community back to the NM State Basketball program — an outreach goal of new head men's basketball coach Paul Weir.

The NMSU Marching Band cited other engagements that preclude its participation at the basketball games on Friday, Nov. 11, as well as the men's game against Samford on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
