ARLINGTON, Texas – The NM State women's tennis team dropped a tightly-contested match on Saturday at the UTA Tennis Center to Stephen F. Austin, 4-3.
 
Like much of the entire match, doubles play went down to the wire for NM State and SFA. The Lumberjacks won on court No. 1 but the Aggies answered right back when Vanessa Valdez and Rebecca Keijzerwaard bested their counterparts on court No. 2, 6-3.
 
The No. 3 pair for NM State went down early, but was able to knot things up at 2-2 before SFA captured the doubles point with the 6-2 win.
 
The Lumberjacks took an early lead over the Aggies, but wins from Valdez at No. 2 singles, Keijzerwaard at No. 3 singles and Eli Arnaudova at No. 5 singles tied things up at 3-3. However, Stephen F. Austin got the best of NM State in the end for the 4-3 victory on Saturday.
 
New Mexico State continues on the road with a 10 a.m. match-up against UT Arlington on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the UTA Tennis Center.
