SEATTLE – The New Mexico State men's tennis team is one match closer from clinching its third-straight Western Athletic Conference regular-season title on Friday when it routed Seattle U 7-0 at Championship Field Tennis Courts.

The Aggies (12-5, 3-0 WAC) swept doubles action with the wrecking crew of
Christofer Goncalves and
Luis Flores finishing first, followed by NM State's No. 3 and No. 2 doubles team.

Stijn de Haan made it a 2-0 edge for NM State with the 6-3, 6-1 beating of John Stormans at the No. 3 slot. Goncalves pushed the lead to 3-0 on court No. 1 after a quick 6-0, 6-1 win over Seattle U's (9-12, 0-3 WAC) top singles player.

Enrique Asmar clinched the match for NM State not too long after Goncalves with a 6-2, 6-1 ousting of Adrian Sanabria.
Sergi Espias kept things going in favor of the Aggies with a 7-5, 6-4 win on court No. 4.
Luis Flores kept the sweep in check when he labored to beat Michael Schoettler 7-6, 4-6, 13-11 at No. 2 singles before
Mauri Benitez completed the blanking of Alex Chan 4-6, 6-2, 10-7.

New Mexico State now faces UMKC at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Championship Field Tennis Courts before finishing out the conference slate with UT Rio Grande Valley on Sunday.
