LAS VEGAS – The New Mexico State men's tennis team saw its run at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships come to an end on Wednesday after its doubles teams and
Louis Menard fell in the main draw at the Darling Tennis Center.
Â
In the round of 16,
Stijn de Haan and
Mauri Benitez were defeated 8-3 by Northern Arizona's team that was the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Meanwhile,
Louis Menard and
Enrique Asmar saw their run come to an end after an 8-3 loss to Nevada's team.
Â
In singles play, Menard gave Idaho's Guiherme Scarpelli a tough time and forced a third set after rallying to take the second set but ultimately fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the round of 16.
Â
That'll do it for the men's team this fall as they now rest up and get ready for the dual season, which will begin at 2 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the NM State Tennis Center. As always, admission is free for all men's and women's matches.
