LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team completed day two at the Bedford Cup on Saturday hosted by Air Force Academy.

NM State's team of
Louis Menard and
Jordy Visser fell in their first doubles match of the day, falling to Northern Colorado's team 6-3.
Martin Simecek and
Luis Flores fell to Denver's team 6-3 in the consolation semifinals while
Nicolas Buitrago and
Timothee Curnier lost to Abilene Christian's team 6-4.

Menard won the first set, but was challenged by Air Forces' Paul Hendrix and couldn't get over the hump in the third set – falling 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the Blue singles draw. Simecek was bested by Nikolas Moceanu in the back draw while Buitrago came out on top against Adolfo Arroyo 6-2, 7-5.

Visser, a freshman, will play for the consolation title in the Blue singles draw after a gritty 7-6 (5), 7-5 win over NAU's Chris Steal and Southern Utah's Nolan McCaig 6-3, 6-4.

Both Flores and Curnier bowed out of the quarterfinals in the Silver singles draw. Flores dropped hi match to SUU's Jose Ortega 6-4, 6-4 while Curnier lost in three sets to Weber State's Arthur Serafim.

The Aggies will wrap up their time in Colorado Springs on Sunday at the Bedford Cup before getting a couple weeks off to train for the ITA Mountain Regional (Oct. 16-20) hosted by Denver.
