LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Aggie baseball program continues to reach new heights.
Â
New Mexico State Athletics announced on Friday that it has met its fundraising goal of $39,000 for the NM State Baseball Locker Campaign. The project provided former Aggie baseball student-athletes with the opportunity to sponsor a locker in the clubhouse at Presley Askew Field.
Â
All 39 lockers, which were available for $1,000 each, are now accounted for by or on behalf of former NM State baseball alums. The locker adornments, which include the respective alum's name, years played and jersey number, are on the side of each locker - clearly visible to all student-athletes, staff and visitors inside the clubhouse.
Â
"Aggie baseball alums have always gone above and beyond to support the program and its student-athletes in any way, shape, or form," NM State deputy AD/COO
Braun Cartwright said. "We're thankful for everything they've done to leave a lasting legacy here at New Mexico State."
Â
All proceeds from the NM State Baseball Locker Campaign solely benefit the baseball program, helping sustain its upward trajectory. The Aggies previously announced the successful funding of a new
4,500-square foot training facility, thanks to a pledge from long-time donors and loyal fans Mike and Judy Johnson.
Â
"It's a great day to be an Aggie!" NM State head baseball coach
Mike Kirby said. "We owe a big thank you to Aggie Nation for its unending support, even during an unprecedented year. Look forward to seeing everyone at The 'Skew this spring!"
