Ethan Mann, Tommy Tabak Receive ABL Honors

Mann earns ABL Player of the Year, Silver Slugger honors while Tabak takes home First Team All-ABL

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- NM State infielder Ethan Mann earned Alaska Baseball League Player of the Year, while teammate Tommy Tabak earned First Team All-ABL honors, the league announced Sunday.

The 2021 ABL Player of the Year, Mann also took home Silver Slugger honors and was named to the ABL First Team. Playing primarily at first base for the Glacier Pilots, Mann hit .333 in 36 games and recorded 12 extra-base hits (eight doubles, four home runs). Mann's .333 average was the second-best mark in the ABL. The infielder also added 13 stolen bases which were also the second-most in the ABL.

A junior outfielder for the Aggies, Tabak finished his ABL season hitting .323 in 37 games with eight doubles, four triples and two home runs. Tabak also stole 12 bases and recorded 43 hits, the second-most in the ABL.

Tabak and Mann helped lead the Glacier Pilots to a 22-21 record during the regular season and to a berth in ABL Playoffs. With the help of Tabak's 3-for-3 performance yesterday, the Glacier Pilots earned a 4-3 walk-off victory over the Chugiak Chinooks to advance to the ABL Championship series.

Action in the ABL Championship begins Monday, where the Glacier Pilots will face the winner of today's semifinal series between the Anchorage Bucs and the Matsu Miners.
