LINCOLN, Neb. – For the first time in the 2022 season, the NM State baseball team finds itself on the road. After 13 games at Presley Askew Field, the Aggies head north to take on Nebraska in the Cornhusker State.
AGGIE FACTS
- Several Aggies have ties to Nebraska, including head coach Mike Kirby and assistant coach Michael Pritchard. Kirby spent five season at Nebraska as an assistant coach while Pritchard was an All-American and All-Big Ten selection for the Huskers before accepting a role as a graduate assistant.
- The Aggies fell in a pair of games by one run each to Seattle U before shutting the door for a 9-0 win on Sunday. The Aggies moved to 4-0 in Sunday matchups on the season.
- NM State hits the road for the first time in 2022 for the two-game set. The Aggies are just one of 10 teams in Division I who have not left home yet this season.
- Ian Mejia picked up his third win of the season on Sunday, which leads the Aggies.
- The Tuesday game will be the first night game of the season for the Aggies. All of the games to this point have began at 3 p.m. or earlier.
- North Dakota native Cam Blazek will get the start for NM State on Tuesday night. The Wednesday starting pitcher is yet to be determined.
- Both games against Nebraska will be show on the Big Ten Network +.
ABOUT THE HUSKERS
- Nebraska's weekend series against Long Beach State was canceled to the Huskers picked up a pair with in-state rival Omaha. The Huskers split the two games and head into the series against NM State in the win column.
- In four games against Northwestern State and UT Arlington in Arlington, Texas, the Huskers went 3-1, taking both games against Northwestern State.
- Nebraska was swept in a three-game series by No. 17 TCU and lost three of four to NM State's fellow WAC member, Sam Houston.
- The Huskers do not begin conference play until March 25 against Michigan.
