LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Rio Grande Rivalry. Season 2022. Episode four.

NM State baseball will square off with its in-state rival, the University of New Mexico, on Tuesday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m. MT.  The game was initially slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. but was moved up to accommodate the Aggies' travel to Orem, Utah.

AGGIE FACTS
  • NM State is coming off of a tough weekend against No. 25 Grand Canyon. Despite the losses, the Aggies held a lead in each of the three contests.
  • All four NM State runs in Sunday's finale came via the long ball. Brandon Dieter, Nolan Funke, and Tommy Tabak all homered in the contest.
  • Tabak's home run came in his final at-bat inside Presley Askew Field.
  • NM State recognized four seniors before Sunday's game – Tabak, Brendon Rodriguez, Frank Dickson IV, and Lyle Hibbitts.
  • Several Aggies are within striking distance of top-ten single season records. Kevin Jimenez (doubles), Logan Gallina (home runs) and Ian Mejia (strikeouts) could all find their ways into the record book before the season is complete.
  • Alex Bustamante is already tied for 10th place on the NM State single-season saves list with five.
  • The Aggies are looking to avoid being swept by the in-state rival, trailing 3-0 in the season series.
  • Cade Swenson will get the nod for NM State in the in-state showdown.
  • The Aggies will need to win two of three against Utah Valley to qualify for the WAC Baseball Tournament.

ABOUT THE LOBOS
  • UNM starting pitcher Benjamin Baker-Livingston will once again get the nod against the Aggies on Tuesday. On Monday, Baker-Livingston was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week.
  • Much like the Aggies, the Lobos were swept in their weekend series. UNM was outscored 41-5 over the three-game set with California.
  • New Mexico enters with a nearly identical record to the Aggies, both overall and in conference play.
  • Tod Brown is in his first season as the leader of the Lobos.
  • Following the midweek tilt, New Mexico will host Air Force in the final regular season series.
