ARLINGTON, Texas – For the first time since 2019, four Aggies have been named to the All-WAC teams. Three Aggies –
Keith Jones II,
Kevin Jimenez, and
Christian Perez – were named to the conference's Second Team while
Nick Gore became just the second player in NM State history to earn a spot on the conference's All-Defensive team.
WAC Player of the Year candidate, Jones II, was named to the Second Team in his first season for the crimson and white. After transferring from Washington State, Jones II posted a .453 batting average - Good for third in the conference. The outfielder hit safely in 22 of the Aggies final 24 WAC games this season. As the primary leadoff hitter for NM State, Jones II led the Aggies in batting average (.453), on-base percentage (.560), hits (48), runs scored (32), doubles (11), total bases (74), stolen bases (5). In the outfield, Jones II committed just one error during the conference slate.
As a decorated senior, Jimenez was named to an All-Conference for the third time in his career. Just as was the case following the 2021 campaign, Jimenez was named to the Second Team this year after slashing .333 / .388 / .544 in WAC play. The Nogales, Arizona native notched 14 extra base hits in conference play including nine doubles and five home runs. Smooth as ever in the batters box, Jimenez posted 12 multi-hit games in WAC games including four three-hit days. The always sure-handed middle infielder also converted on 96.5% of fielding opportunities.
After making a strong case to be the conference's freshman of the year, Perez landed on the Second Team to kick off his career. Perez tied for NM State's team lead with eight home runs in conference play, which ties for seventh among all players in the WAC. Hitting safely in 16 of the Aggies last 17 WAC games, Perez posted a .331 batting average. During conference game, the freshman led the team in RBI (31), while finishing second in runs scored (28), hits (39), doubles (9), and total bases (72).
Gore becomes the second player in NM State history to be named to the WAC All-Defensive team. Joining teammate
Logan Gallina (2022), Gore joined the exclusive club after splitting time between first base and catcher. Throughout WAC contests, Gore posted a .994 fielding percentage. committing just one error on the season. In his first season at the Division I level, Gore recorded 157 putouts and mixed in 19 assists. As a catcher, Gore also threw out seven runners attempting to steal.
