NM State Travels to Jax State

The Aggies are set to play three-game series against conference foe Jax State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Aggies head to Jacksonville, Ala. to play conference foe Jax State in a three-game series on April 26-28. Game one and two will begin at 5 p.m. MT on Friday and Saturday with the third game starting at noon MT on Sunday.


 
Jones: Conference Leader
Keith Jones II has been on an absolute tear at the plate for the Aggies, so much so that Jones is second in the conference in batting average with .405. With the home run against Arizona, Jones is still leading the conference in home runs with 15. 
 
The Aggies have recorded 305 RBI on the season, Jones has 60 RBI this season, which also leads Conference USA. Jones is leading the conference in SLG% (.798), OB% (.503), OPS (1.301) and total bases (130).
 
Season High Streaks
With a home run in the Wednesday contest Jones how has a 14-game hit streak. This is the longest hit-streak that an Aggie has held all season – just one game longer than Nick Gore's 13-game hit streak he had in the first 14 games of the season.
 
Over the weekend Mitch Namie was able to set a new team high on-base streak. Namie has now reached base safely in the past 21 games he has played. The previous streak was 20 games held by Jones. 
 
Jones in CUSA Games
Of the 15 conference games that the Aggies have played Jones has been able to rack up 26 hits and 23 RBI. In seven of the 15 games Jones has at least two RBI in the game. He has knocked five doubles and seven home runs in conference games.
 
Jones has 11 stolen bases on the season with five in conference games. Jones is batting .413 in conference games with an on-base percentage of .479 and slugging percentage of .825. He has two multi-home run games, both in conference contests.
 
Scouting the Gamecocks
The Gamecocks are batting .258 as a team. Leading them is Caleb Johnson who has a .321 batting average on the season. They have a total of 227 runs on 329 hits with 48 home runs. Jax State have recorded 76 stolen bases on 90 attempts.
 
As a pitching staff the Gamecocks have an ERA of 7.30. Their opponents have a batting average of .305. Will Baker is their top starter who has an ERA of 5.36. As a unit Jax State has allowed 268 earned runs and 402 hits.
 
Series History
This will be the first time the Aggies and the Gamecocks have ever played each other. The three game series will mark the first ever series between the two teams.
