NM State Hosts New Mexico

The Aggies will host the 23-19 New Mexico Lobos in third game this season.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies set to host New Mexico in a single game midweek contest on April 30 at 6 p.m. MT. This will be the third game that these two teams have played against each other this season. 
 
Gallina Named Conference USA Hitter of the Week (Apr. 29)
Logan Gallina becomes the second Aggie to earn Conference USA Hitter of the Week. Over the weekend Gallina recorded five hits on 10 at-bats, with each of the five hits going for extra bases.
 
Coming off a 3-1 week, Gallina has led the team as he recorded a team leading seven RBIs on the week. Gallina had a team leading three doubles and two home runs on the week. Gallina found himself getting on base often as he was walked three times and hit by the pitch three times this week.
 
This is Galina's third weekly award that he has received in his career, in 2022 he was awarded Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week on Mar. 7 and Apr. 25. This will be Gallina's first award he has received from the Conference USA.
 
Last Two Games vs. UNM
The Aggies and the Lobos have played each other in two games this season with the first game being played in Albuquerque, and the second game was played in Las Cruces, N.M. on April 9.
 
In the first game the Lobos won 14-4, in that game Preston Godfrey hit for the cycle. In the second game the Aggies won 10-2, in that game the Aggies recorded 10 hits and nine RBIs. Matt Romero earned the win in this game. 
 
Conference Leaders
After an outstanding weekend the Aggies now lead the Conference USA in six different statistical measures most notably batting average as they have a team batting average of .305.
 
The Aggie offense lead the conference in walks (222), On base percentage (.417), runs (369), runs per game (8.6) and slugging percentage (.508). Keith Jones II leads the conference in hits with 70.
 
Scouting the Lobos
The Lobos have a team batting average of .323 with their top hitter, Khalil Walker hitting .412. the Lobos have a total of 469 hits with 53 home runs. The Lobos have a slugging percentage of .520 and an on-base percentage of .429.
 
On the mound the Lobos have a team ERA of 8.29. The Lobos top starter, Benjamin Baker-Livingston, has an ERA of 3.00. The Lobos have allowed 329 earned runs and 58 home runs so far this season.
 
Series History
The Aggies and the Lobos have played 261 games against each other dating back to 1962. The Lobos currently have control over the series matchup with 167 wins to the Aggies 94 wins.  
 
The first series that these teams played in 1962 was a two-game series where the Aggies lost both games. This series was played in Las Cruces, N.M. where the Lobos won game one 5-4 and game two 11-2.  
 
In the 2023 season, the Aggies and the Lobos alternated sites playing a single game on four occasions. In the four games played the two teams split, winning two games each. The Aggies took game one winning 2-0 in Las Cruces, N.M. The Lobos would then fall in the next two games losing 0-13 and 6-14. For the final game of the year the Aggies won 8-0.
