Albuquerque, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team was blanked on Saturday at the Linda Estes Tennis Center in a neutral site match against No. 53 Utah, 7-0.
Â
The lone win for NM State (2-7) came at No. 2 doubles from
Liam Goldberg and
Stijn de Haan. However, Utah (13-2) responded with wins on courts No. 3 and No. 1 to capture the doubles point.
Â
The Aggies didn't have much success in singles play as the Utes swept all six matches, but not before having to earn it on courts No. 4 and No. 5.
Â
With the match already clinched, de Haan and
Mauri Benitez required their opponents to play into the tiebreaker before the two freshmen eventually fell.
Â
New Mexico State will have a couple weeks to rest and practice before heading to Albuquerque again from March 11-12, where they'll be playing in the UNM Invitational.
