LAS VEGAS – The New Mexico State women's tennis team captured its first win of the 2018 season as well as head coach
Emily Wang's first dual victory since taking over the Aggie program last summer with a 5-2 win over Weber State Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The victory kept the win-streak alive for the Aggies and pushed the streak to 17-straight after Saturday's win.

Weber State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in doubles play when Tereza Pilzova and Morgan Dickason bested
Helena Colvee and
Vanessa Valdez 6-3 on court No. 3.
Lindsay Harlas and
Yadira Rubio teamed up for a 6-1 win over WSU's top doubles pair.

Quinty Janssen and
Rebecca Keijzerwaard clinched doubles point for NM State shortly thereafter with a 6-3 win on court No. 2.

Rubio put NM State on top 2-0 in singles play after cruising to a 6-2, 6-3 win on court No. 4 against Dominique Beauvais of WSU.
Eli Arnaudova gave the Aggies match point after taking down the Wildcats' McKenna Lloyd 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 6 slot.

Janssen then put the finishing touches and clinched the match for NM State. The freshman had to battle in her match for the win after dropping the first set before dominating the second set 6-0 for the 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 win.

Weber State picked up wins on court No. 1 and No. 2 before Harlas finished the match up with a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 win on court No. 3.

New Mexico State now returns home for its first home match of the season against Abilene Christian at 10 a.m. (MT) on Friday, Feb. 2, at the NM State Tennis Center.
